Summary
This notice explains how AlloScribe uses cookies and similar technologies, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include browser storage such as IndexedDB and localStorage.
- The marketing website at alloscribe.com sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising tools.
- The app at app.alloscribe.com uses three strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in securely.
- The app stores recordings, drafts, history and settings in your browser so that your work stays on your device and is not lost if the page closes.

Our website
We do not use analytics, advertising, social media or tracking cookies on alloscribe.com, and we do not embed third-party trackers.
The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, which means your IP address and browser details are sent to Google. Google Fonts does not set cookies for this. Google's use of this information is described in its own privacy policy.
If we ever add analytics or other non-essential cookies to the website, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
Cookies in the app
When you sign in to the app, we set the following first-party cookies. They are marked httpOnly, which means scripts on the page cannot read them, and they are sent only over encrypted connections.

Signing out removes the sign-in cookies. You can also sign out other devices from your profile in the app.
Browser storage in the app
The app keeps your work in your browser's storage on your device, not on our servers. On a shared computer, this data is kept separately for each person who signs in.

This is what allows a recording to survive a page reload, a closed tab or a crash, and to be offered back to you when you return.
Why we do not ask for consent
PECR allows a service to store information on your device without consent where it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. Everything described above falls within that exemption:
- the cookies are needed to sign you in and keep your account secure;
- the browser storage is needed to record, keep and show you your own work; and
- none of it is used for analytics, advertising or tracking you across other websites.
Because these items are essential, the app cannot work without them, and we do not show a cookie banner.
Desktop apps, mobile apps and browser extension
Our desktop and mobile apps store the same kinds of information (sign-in details, recordings, drafts, history and settings) in the app's own storage on your device. Our browser extension uses the browser's extension storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. The same principles apply: this storage is used only to provide the service, and uninstalling an app or extension may delete it.
Clearing cookies and storage
You can view and delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser's settings. Your browser's help pages explain how.
Before clearing site data, make sure all recordings have been processed, and export any reports you need to keep and file them in your record system. Clearing cookies also signs you out, and you will need to sign in again.
If you block cookies or storage for app.alloscribe.com altogether, you will not be able to sign in or record.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice if we change the cookies or storage we use. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated.
